Sir,

I am writing this with great expectation on my life. I have been explaining my condition to allopathic doctors but they are hardly listening to me, they are still lingering up on TSH (which is not the decisive testing method for the underactive thyroid at all )

My name is Vinod Kumar, 51yrs aged, at present I am not working since not able to concentrate anything. I am 160 cms tall and weighing 61Kg. I used to be having very tough body with a weight of 73Kg used to take classes in GYM and Martial arts. Till 2011 I was perfectly all right and I was working as a structural designer . Apart from my work I used to do social service too by teaching Yoga, Body Building. I had been taking seminars on healthy living for more than 10 years till 2011.

Though I used to feel excessive cold during my younger ages too, I did not take care of it. But, in 2011 I felt lack of concentration and developed high degree of short temper, irritation etc. I felt like committing suicide. I understood that it is due to the underactive thyroid since I used to take healthy living classes .

I have taken my TSH , T3 and T4 levels; it was within range only. But, I did not believe in that so called TSH. I have checked my early morning temperature at bed consecutively for one week it was in the range of 93.5°F to 94.8° F (The Barness Basal Temperature Test). I have consulted with my family physician and he referred me to the psychiatrist! So, the psychiatrist diagnosed it is ‘BIPOLAR DISORDER’ for which I vehemently opposed, but I had to take the medicines since my cognitive power was very low and I was feeling like committing suicide , not able to get along with the people too. Since, the medicines were to increase my serotonin level and slow releasing of serotonin, I felt better over a period of six months treatment. Then gradually stopped the medicines.

Again, the symptoms developed when I start working again, not able to concentrate on the work and take the decisions. Even for simple issues I get perplexed; and I lost my body weight considerably now. Earlier I used to be a role model for others for the body building, now I became very thin. Lost, almost 12 Kg of weight (those were lean muscles ). I look like a patient now. Even now too, I took the TSH level, it shows correct as usual.

But the temperature ranges between 93.5°F to 96.2° which is shows it is a case of Hypothyroidism only. I become irritant to all the talks of others and prefer to be sit alone and not able to work. I feel cold always and tensed too. So please do help me sir. Earlier I used to get up in the morning at around 4.30 am do the work out, now I feel so sluggish in the morning time not getting the energy level. I get pain in my joints too. My left shoulder and left leg knee too paining (Though I took Ayurvedic Medicines for the pain for the past three months, I did not get any cure, normally ayurvedic medicines used to work on me). As in hypothyroid the patient get pain at articulations. I feel restless and often feel unworthy of myself.

I do not take tea and coffee from the very young ages as I used to teach Yoga at the age of 18 onward. I do not drink alcoholic or other beverages and do not smoke too.

My stomach is very sensitive , a slight variation in food will upset my stomach (another symptom of Hypothyroid).

PLEASE DO HELP ME SIR

Dr. Jitesh, I would like to inform you that please do not depend up on TSH, it is a vague test for the secondary Hypothyroidism . Please go through the research of Dr Broda Barness who has spent his entire life time on Hypothyroidism. You can read the book 'SOLVED THE RIDDLE OF ILLNESS By Stephen Elanger". So, if you see India 80 percent of the people are suffering from Hypothyroidism not detected by the TSH and some people are being treated by psychiatric drugs thinking it is a clinical depression. So, doctor please think out of the box and update with what the medical school did not teach.
